Community Garden Meeting

The new community garden at Reedy Creek Park will be holding an introductory and sign up meeting on Tuesday, May 17, at 7 PM at Reedy Creek Park Shelter 3. The garden is taking shape now on Grier Road, soil preparation with Mecklenburg County's excellent
'no-sludge' compost and lime has already happened. It's a great site, just off W.T. Harris Blvd near the CPCC horticulture campus, with lots of room to grow.

Based on demand and resources, hopefully there will be both large (24x24) and small (10x10) beds available - that is something we'll be exploring Tuesday night (we want to make room for everyone this first season, and then look for funding opportunities to allow for larger plots). Come participate in the discussion. The tentative fee schedule is $40/yr for a large plot and $15 for a small plot, water provided. There will be common areas and a need for cooperative work (from all gardeners) to keep the garden looking good (and a site for cool classes and events).

This is going to be a fun project that will grow into a tangible and invaluable community resource. Come get in on the ground floor!
