ACADEMY MISSION STATEMENT: To build social capital in University City by providing community
members leadership training for their individual growth while offering an opportunity to develop group interaction
skills with diversity and trust as the foundation.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Application to the Leadership Academy is open to all interested parties,
particularly those residing, working or worshiping in University City. Twenty participants will be selected for
the program, which will include 10 working sessions and a community service activity.
In reviewing applications, the committee will focus on the following with a special emphasis
on responses in the Vision and Perspective section of the application:
- Commitment and motivation to serve the University City area
both now and in the future.
- Position of leadership, influence, and responsibility in employment
or volunteer organizations resulting in the potential to impact important issues facing the community.
- Ability to make the time commitment required by the program.
Selected participants will be sent a registration form to bring
to the first session along with the $200 registration fee (check made out to the YMCA or cash, Visa, Mastercard,
Discover or American Express are accepted).
